Hendersonville students attend schools based on attendance zones that use boundary maps and include eight local elementary schools, four middle schools, and two high schools. Many of the elementary schools offer before- and after-school child-care programs to assist working parents.
Three years in a row now, Sumner County High School students have scored higher on the ACT than the previous testing year. The students continue to excel as evidenced by Sumner County Schools 2015-16 ACT Results. Sumner County also has a long tradition of keeping its composite ACT score above the state of Tennessee's average composite score. Once kids graduate from the great Sumner County School System, there's no lack of choices for higher education in the surrounding area. In Gallatin (about eight miles from Hendersonville), students can attend Volunteer State Community College.
