The first thing people hear about Nolensville is that it has quite a history. Named after William Nolen, who founded the town in 1797, it began as 26 lots. Local lore says that Nolen and his family were traveling through Tennessee when their wagon collapsed. While it was being repaired, he checked out the area and decided there was no reason to travel farther.
In the past 20 years, considerable residential real estate has been built to accommodate Nolensville's rapid population growth. Among new home developments are Silver Stream, Ballenger Farms, Bent Creek, Burkett Place, Winterset Woods, and Summerlyn.
