| HISTORY
Our progressive urban center began in
1779 on the banks of the Cumberland River near the center
of present downtown Nashville. There a band of pioneers led
by James Robertson cleared the land and built a log stockade
called Fort Nashborough. In April of 1780, approximately 60
families followed to settle in the new community.

and permanently in 1843

miles
· Nashville MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area)- Eight

Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner,
Williamson, Wilson
