| EDUCATION (School Information)
Appropriately called the Athens of the
South, Nashville’s commitment to education had early
roots. Peabody College, which is now part of Vanderbilt University,
is the descendant of the first Academy, which was founded
in 1785, just 6 years after the first settlement was established.
Today Middle Tennessee boasts 20 colleges and universities
plus a myriad of technical and training programs. Annually,
65,000 students from around the world attend our facilities.
Nashville is home to more institutions of advanced learning
per person than almost any other city in the country.
